Large Rectangular Box, 1960s

In the early 1960s, European design favored clean lines and the authenticity of materials. This large rectangular box made of solid wood perfectly embodies this quest for formal simplicity. Made around 1960, it is entirely constructed of solid wood, carefully assembled, with a flat lid featuring a discreet hinge. The design is clean, almost graphic: a low, elongated volume whose façade is punctuated by fine horizontal lines emphasizing the structure. The interior, left in a lighter shade, reveals the quality of the wood and the precision of the cabinetmaking. The condition is very good, with slight signs of wear consistent with its age.

The warm, slightly satiny patina of the wood testifies to respectful use and enhances its authentic character. Its proportions — 23 cm long, 15 cm wide and 4 cm high — give it an elegant and discreet silhouette, ideal for holding documents, photographs, jewelry or writing accessories. A simple and timeless piece, perfect on a modernist desk, a 60s sideboard or a minimalist coffee table.
